The beaches surrounding our hotels in Fuerteventura

The beaches surrounding our hotels in Fuerteventura

If there's one thing you'll love about Fuerteventura, beyond its climate and leisurely pace, it's its beaches. At R2 Hotels, we're fortunate to be very close to some of the island's best, and we're not the only ones saying that: the Blue Flag, an international recognition that recognizes water quality, safety, services, and respect for the environment, also speaks volumes.

Today we're taking you on a tour of the beaches near our hotels. Places where you can walk barefoot, unwind, swim, or simply gaze at the horizon.

Costa Calma Beach: tranquility, clear sand, and very close to you

One of the most famous beaches on the island, and with good reason. Costa Calma Beach is right in front of our R2 Maryvent Beach Apartments.
, and just a few steps away from R2 Higos Beach Aparthotel.

This beach is wide, calm, and perfect for a day out. It has a Blue Flag, meaning it has services, good accessibility, and excellent water quality. It's ideal for families, strolling along the shore, or simply stretching out in the sun with the Atlantic breeze.

Sotavento Beach: that postcard that stays with you

If you've searched for images of Fuerteventura, you've surely seen this beach. It's the one with sandbanks that jut into the sea, forming a kind of natural lagoon at high tide. One of those beaches that seems otherworldly because it's so beautiful.

From R2 Pájara Beach, you can get there in just a few minutes by car. And believe us, it's worth it. Not only for its scenery, but also because the wind here is perfect for water sports. It has a Blue Flag and plenty of space, so there's always a spot for you, even if you don't arrive early.

Morro Jable Beach: golden sand and all amenities

Right in front of the R2 Buganvilla Hotel & Spa, this beach is perfect if you're looking for comfort without compromising on anything. You can walk directly from the hotel and land on one of the highest-rated beaches in southern Fuerteventura, also awarded a Blue Flag.

It has a promenade lined with restaurants and shops, sun loungers, and beach bars, and fine golden sand that invites you to walk barefoot without looking at your watch. Plus, if you're keen to explore, you can walk to the port or the lighthouse. It's one of those beaches that has it all without losing its charm.

What does it mean when a beach has a Blue Flag?

The Blue Flag is an international award that recognizes beaches that care for their environment, offer quality services, and guarantee accessibility, cleanliness, and safety. It's much more than a beautiful beach: it's a well-maintained beach, prepared for peaceful enjoyment.

For us, having our nearby beaches receive this recognition is yet another way of confirming that we're in the right place, surrounded by nature, quality, and respect for our surroundings.

If you want to know more about this distinction, you can visit the official Blue Flag Beaches website.

Fuerteventura, the sea, and R2 Hotels: the perfect combination

At R2 Hotels, we don't just want you to rest well or eat well. We want you to experience the island the way we do. We want you to walk down to the beach without rushing, to walk along the sand with your flip-flops in hand, to swim without looking at the time. And, at the end of the day, to have a comfortable place to continue enjoying yourself.

The beaches are right here, right next door. You already have the hotel. Fuerteventura provides the rest.

Why choose an all-inclusive hotel in Fuerteventura?

Why choose an all-inclusive hotel in Fuerteventura?

Traveling to Fuerteventura is easy. The hard part is wanting to return.

There's something about this island that changes the pace, that forces us to stop, to breathe, to gaze at the sea with a different kind of calm. And if you add to all that the comfort of an all-inclusive hotel, the experience becomes even better.

At R2 Hotels, we know this because we've experienced it firsthand. Our all-inclusive hotels aren't just accommodations with a buffet: they're places where every day begins unhurriedly, where everything you need is just steps away, and where true relaxation is as simple as letting yourself go.

What can you expect from an all-inclusive hotel in Fuerteventura?

Above all, peace of mind.

An all-inclusive hotel is for those who don't want to be tied to the clock. It's for those who prefer to decide at the moment whether to take a swim, have breakfast, or stay in the sun lounger for another half hour. It's for those who value the convenience of having everything within reach.

At our hotels in Fuerteventura, this convenience translates into extensive buffets with options for everyone, bars where there's always something fresh waiting for you, activities during the day, shows at night, shops, a spa, and, above all, the ocean always close by.

And why Fuerteventura?

Because the weather here is good all year round.

Because you can be there in December in short sleeves. Because the island invites you to slow down. And because if there's one place that seems made for all-inclusive, it's this one.

We're close to beaches, so the sea is always in the cards, even if you don't feel like moving around much. From R2 Pájara Beach Hotel & Spa in Costa Calma, to R2 Buganvilla Hotel & Spa in Jandía, or R2 Bahía Playa Design Hotel & Spa and R2 Romantic Fantasía Dreams & Suites Hotel in Tarajalejo, all are located very close to the sea.

What makes an all-inclusive hotel at R2 Hotels special?

The experience.

Having several bars, a full buffet, or activities is all well and good, but what really makes the difference is how the place makes you feel. And our teams take great care of that: the friendly service, the relaxed atmosphere, the freedom to do whatever you want at any given moment.

Traveling with kids? You'll find entertainment, pools for all ages, and food that the whole family will love. You can stay at R2 Pájara Beach Hotel & Spa and R2 Buganvilla Hotel & Spa .

Are you coming as a couple? You can stay at our R2 Romantic Fantasía Dreams & Suites Hotel , with adults-only areas and access to all the services of R2 Bahía Playa Design Hotel & Spa.

Do you like to get around? Some hotels are located next to shopping malls, while others have spas, relaxation areas, and direct beach access.

Each hotel has its own style, but they all share the essential: you come here to unwind.
The best of all: not having to think

That's the big advantage..

Being in a place where you know you'll eat well, you'll be able to rest, you'll have entertainment if you want it, and peace when you need it.
A place where you don't have to rush out to see things to feel like you're on vacation. That's what an all-inclusive stay with us in Fuerteventura offers.
And the best part is, when you want to come back, you know it's still here.

Canary Islands Day: Volcanoes that beat, seas that embrace

Canary Islands Day: Volcanoes that beat, seas that embrace

When Canary Islands Day approaches, the island's heart beats faster. Not out of nostalgia, but out of pride. Out of memory. Out of that unique way these islands have of teaching you to live with the wind in your face and the lava in your blood.

And if there are two islands where the volcanic soul is felt unfiltered, they are Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Where the earth still creaks in silence and the sea is not just water, but history.

In Fuerteventura, the wind doesn't bother you, it dances. It's that trade wind that ruffles your hair and wakes you up, that has shaped the dunes and smells of saltpeter and gofio. The people of Fuerteventura know this: living here means having an intimate relationship with the light, with the endless skies, with the calm that can only be understood when you leave the clock behind.

And Lanzarote... Ah, Lanzarote. Black earth and dormant fire. Of vines that grow in ash, like a miracle. Because only here does Malvasia taste like this: sweet, mineral, with that echo of Yaiza and La Geria that tells you without words what it's like to love this island. To love the people of Lanzarote, who have learned to cultivate beauty where everything else seemed sterile.

Diving into its waters isn't just a swim, it's a way of being. Some people do it in the middle of December, wearing short-sleeved T-shirts, their skin tanned by a summer that never goes away. And others wait for summer like a party, wrapping themselves in a light jacket when the thermometer reaches 23 degrees. Because being a Canarian is also that: living in eternal summer, or yearning for it all year long.

In these lands, time cooks slowly: in wrinkled potatoes, in red mojo sauce that stings more than a farewell, in a Majorero cheese that holds within its rind the soul of the goats and those who care for them. And in the plantain, of course, because there's nothing more Canarian than enjoying one at its best.

This Canary Islands Day isn't just a date: it's a feeling. It's knowing you're part of something ancient, volcanic, and alive. It's looking to the horizon and knowing that, even as the world turns, we're still here, steadfast, like Timanfaya, like the Betancuria mountain range.

At R2 Hotels, we celebrate this day with the excitement of those who not only work here, but also feel they belong. Because being Canarian isn't always inherited: sometimes, it's a choice.

Happy Canary Islands Day, from the island of Fuerteventura. Happy day, from Fuerteventura. And to all who love these islands: may the volcano continue to beat within you.

Blue Flag Beaches in Fuerteventura 2024

Blue Flag Beaches in Fuerteventura 2024

Fuerteventura offers a unique landscape for unforgettable moments. There's no doubt that the invention of the Blue Flag, back in the mid-1980s, has boosted the beaches and municipalities that hold this distinction.

What are the Blue Flags?

The Blue Flag is a distinction awarded annually by the European Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to beaches and ports that meet certain environmental and facility requirements.
The criteria for obtaining a Blue Flag are reviewed and agreed upon annually at the international level. They are divided into four blocks:

  • Environmental Information and Education
  • Bathing Water Quality
  • Environmental Management
  • Security and Services
What does it mean for a beach to have a Blue Flag?

When a beach raises its Blue Flag, you'll know in advance that it meets a series of conditions that guarantee the excellent quality of its waters. It also has information panels about the beach and nearby protected natural areas, and waste management systems, including separate collection of containers, paper, glass, and more. It also has first aid equipment, a lifeguard and lifeguard service, and easy access for people with disabilities and reduced mobility.

  • Butihondo : Located in the southern part of Fuerteventura, it is known for its tranquility and natural beauty.
  • Costa Calma : Offers a heavenly setting with its long stretches of golden sand and calm waters, perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

Sotavento and Playa de Muro win the Traveler's Choice Awards

Sotavento and Playa de Muro win the Traveler's Choice Awards

Every year, the famous travel portal TripAdvisor, which gathers opinions from millions of users around the world, publishes its ranking of the best beaches across the European continent.

Sotavento (Fuerteventura) and Playa de Muro (Mallorca) have been awarded the Traveller's Choice Awards 2023

SOTAVENTO BEACH

These natural landscapes have received numerous accolades from travelers, and rightly so, as they are truly breathtaking. Furthermore, they are located very close to several of our hotels, such as the R2 Río Calma and R2 Maryvent Beach Apartments , so your relaxation is guaranteed.

Many describe Sotavento as a wild, unspoiled area stretching over nine kilometers. If you want to enjoy its radiant, year-round sunshine, this is the beach for you. A natural wonder just a 12-minute drive from the R2 Río Calma.

Playa del Muro

Just a short drive away is Playa de Muro in Mallorca, accessible from the R2 Bahía Cala Ratjada bus line, where you can enjoy one of the island's most idyllic destinations. Turquoise waters, fine sand, and breathtaking sunsets await you.
A perfect place to enjoy with family, alone, or as a couple, where you can enjoy nature, as well as the local sports and cuisine. A must-do experience if you're visiting Mallorca.
Whichever you choose, you won't lack fabulous views and the best rest with R2 Hotels near you.

A must-see: Tostón Lighthouse

A must-see: Tostón Lighthouse

After many modifications throughout its history, the Tostón Lighthouse is an example of evolution that currently reaches 37 meters in height and operates using solar energy.

The natural beauty surrounding this lighthouse will leave you speechless. You'll be amazed by the crystal-clear lagoons protected by reefs, perfect for swimming with your family or partner. Just a few kilometers away, you'll also find Los Lagos Beach, El Cotillo, Corralejo, and other nearby towns.

Near the structure you also have the Traditional Fishing Museum where you can learn more about one of the trades with the longest history in Fuerteventura, fishing.

It's very easy to get there, and parking isn't much of a problem. We recommend visiting early in the morning to avoid crowds of tourists. You can also ask at reception about different ways to get to this dreamlike place.

Puerto del Rosario a must-see destination

Puerto del Rosario a must-see destination

A holiday in Fuerteventura is synonymous with beaches, sun, relaxation, and getting away from it all. However, a visit to the island wouldn't be complete without a stop in its capital, Puerto del Rosario, a 45-minute drive from R2 Río Calma or an hour and a half by public transport with Tiadhe (Fuerteventura's regular transport service). This city, whose evolution over the years has made it one of the most sought-after destinations in the Canary Islands, is a must-see. At R2 Hotels, we want to offer you a guide so you don't get lost in this wonderful city, which you can explore in just one day.

The first thing to do would be to stroll through the main pedestrian area of the city, Primero de Mayo street, get to know the shops, restaurants and start to more or less identify the different places of interest that the town hides.
After a couple of laps exploring the area, we recommend visiting the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, located on the same street mentioned above, a cultural landmark that has endured since its peak in the 19th century.

For those who enjoy learning about the history of the islands, and specifically that of Fuerteventura, a visit to the Lime Kilns is a must. These industrial structures were built to extract lime from limestone, a material that served as an economic mainstay for Fuerteventura for a long period.

If you're a traditional sun and beach tourist, in Puerto del Rosario you'll also find idyllic spots like Puerto del Rosario beach, very close to the town center; Playa Blanca with its golden sand away from the crowds; Playa Chica, perfect for those looking for a central option; and more. All are perfect for surfing if you're a water sports enthusiast.

Try the Majorero cheese and the island's local cuisine can also be a perfect plan if you decide to visit the capital. Getting bored is impossible with everything this incredible city has to offer.

The year is coming to an end, choose your New Year's resolutions.

The year is coming to an end, choose your New Year's resolutions.

The end of the year is just around the corner! At this point, we tend to write endless lists of New Year's resolutions that we intend to keep over the next 365 days. Lists full of habits we want to break, as well as other practices we hope to incorporate into our routine. If taking time for yourself, traveling, or exercising are always at the top of your list, keep reading because we want to help you cross them off and make this year truly memorable!

Dedicate time to yourself

Every year we say the same thing: “This year I’ll dedicate more time to myself.” Then, we never follow through. That’s why we want to help you finally achieve this important goal. At R2 Hotels, we offer a variety of options where you can simply relax or indulge in countless treatments dedicated to the care of your body and mind, all in unbeatable facilities! Without a doubt, it’s the perfect way to fulfill this first resolution and add an extra touch of relaxation to your vacation.

Travel!

To achieve this goal, you don't need to travel to the other side of the world. Without leaving Spain, you can discover a multitude of incredible destinations. Moreover, this is a goal you can fulfill with R2 Hotels, whether it's Mallorca, Lanzarote, or Fuerteventura. This 2021 is the year you can finally say you've visited Mallorca, explored its best coves, and discovered its most breathtaking landscapes, or been amazed by Lanzarote's wild, volcanic charm, or boast about enjoying Fuerteventura's idyllic beaches.

Stay active

This is one of the resolutions we find hardest to keep. Starting at the gym or losing the weight we gained over Christmas are some of the main goals, although they almost always end up going nowhere. To keep this resolution alive from the start, we suggest you visit any of our destinations where you'll find a wide variety of sporting options. Hiking, diving, or surfing are just a few. You have no excuse now!

We hope we have helped you with some of these goals to start the year in the best possible way.

Mallorca Food Tour

Mallorca Food Tour

Mallorca is so beautiful, isn't it? With its incredible landscapes and sunsets on the coast, its enormous and impressive cathedral, its spectacular coves where you can enjoy a pleasant day of swimming, etc. It's definitely a place you have to visit at least once in your life to know what we mean when we say it's incredible. Seeing it isn't the same as telling about it, that's for sure.

But the most important thing when visiting a place isn't just the buildings, the landscapes, and the culture, but also its cuisine. And for that, we also have a plan for you that will leave you with a good taste in your mouth. This is an activity in the center of La Palma, where you can take a gastronomic tour of some of the downtown establishments to make the most of your trip to the island, never better said.

During the tour, in addition to tasting 10 typical local dishes, you'll visit the Plaza dels Rentadors, the Es Baluard viewpoint, the famous symbolic tree of La Palma, "La Olivera de Cort," and many other highlights of the city that we're sure you'll love.

This activity will be accompanied by a local guide throughout the tour. It lasts 3 hours and costs €26 per person. You can join a group of up to 10 people (maximum) for €105. Not bad for a pleasant day out in the center of La Palma, exploring its most intimate parts, don't you think?

Don't hold back, treat yourself and come spend an exquisite day in the center of Mallorca. As they say, it's better to regret something you've done than something you didn't do, and we assure you, you won't regret this one. We look forward to seeing you!

Visit Lobos Island

Visit Lobos Island

Lobos Island, considered a Natural Park of the Canary Islands since 1982 and located just 2km north of Fuerteventura, is one of Fuerteventura's most admired treasures, in addition to its paradisiacal beaches. But today we want to talk specifically about this small island that never ceases to amaze all its visitors and which is one of the peculiarities that makes a trip to the island of Fuerteventura a unique and unforgettable experience.

It gets its unusual name from the presence of sea lions in the surrounding waters some years ago. And although these animals are no longer seen along its shores, it remains a beautiful place, worthy of admiration for all those who venture to visit it.
Visits to this island are organized for a maximum of 400 people per day, divided into two shifts of 200 people each, lasting 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon. Although this may seem like a small number, the island's small size means you can walk around it completely in just 2 hours and 30 minutes, leaving you with the rest of the time to relax and enjoy your stay.

The journey to Lobos Island from Fuerteventura can be made from the port of Corralejo by Ferry or Watertaxi, the Ferry option being slightly cheaper and taking approximately 15-20 minutes.

If your starting point is Lanzarote , the options change slightly; you have two choices:

1. Take a boat to Fuerteventura from where you can then take the Ferry or Watertaxi mentioned above.
2. Take a direct boat trip, spotting dolphins and other marine animals that inhabit the waters of this natural habitat.
Generally, the price of a ferry or water taxi ticket is around €15 for adults and €7.50 for children between 4 and 11 years old. For Canary Island residents, the price is €12 for adults and €6 for children between 4 and 11 years old. Not bad for enjoying a pleasant day exploring this unique archipelago, don't you think?

One thing to keep in mind when planning your visit to the island is that you'll need a permit to access it, which you must request at least 5 days in advance. It's free, and you can arrange it yourself through the Fuerteventura Island Council website, or, in some cases, through ferry and water taxi companies that offer the added benefit of helping you with the process.

And you? Have you ever visited this small Canary archipelago? If not, add it to your list of excursions to take on your next vacation to one of these two Canary Islands.

Buggy Tour in Lanzarote

Buggy Tour in Lanzarote

Lanzarote, the northernmost of the Canary Islands, is characterized by its geology, as it is an island full of small mountains and undulating plains due to its volcanic nature, which makes it very peculiar and different from the rest of the Canary archipelagos, hence its nickname of "The Volcanic Island".

Taking advantage of this characteristic of Lanzarote's landscape, a great way to enjoy its ravines, mountains and scenery is by taking a Buggy Tour, exploring some areas of the island on this curious means of transport that will make it much more fun and a unique experience on your next trip to the island.
If you love adrenaline and unforgettable experiences, this is a great opportunity to add to your bucket list. It's definitely something you have to try at least once in your life, don't you think?

There are several companies with which you can make a reservation.

The lighthouses of Fuerteventura

The lighthouses of Fuerteventura

Shall we go to Fuerteventura? What do you say? It's never a bad time to visit the island of Fuerteventura and discover its stunning coastal landscapes, its immense dunes, and its diverse and unique lighthouses.

Yes, you read that right, the lighthouses of Fuerteventura can be a good reason for your next getaway to be to this destination (in addition to its huge paradisiacal beaches, of course).

Today, the island boasts six lighthouses and a beacon tower, all tasked with watching over the coastline of Fuerteventura. They stand out for their unique and distinctive structures and the stories they hold, especially considering that the oldest date back to the 19th century, and like good old-timers, they have plenty of tales to tell ;P.

We present them to you:

Punta de Jandia Lighthouse

Morro Jable Lighthouse

Entallada Lighthouse

Pesebre Point Lighthouse

Toston Lighthouse

Martiño Lighthouse

Curious, right? It could be a good plan for a day trip around this beautiful island.
And you? Have you already made time in your schedule to meet them? It will be worth it!

The best beaches for surfing in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

The best beaches for surfing in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

If you're a daring, curious, and adventurous person, a sport like surfing is likely to catch your eye. The sea breeze, the Canarian climate, and the tropical landscapes create a perfect combination for you to enjoy this activity like no other. At R2 Hotels, we suggest you explore the beaches of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura on a board. A unique and unforgettable experience for beginners, amateurs, and professionals. Therefore, we want to tell you about three perfect beaches for surfing on the two easternmost islands of the archipelago.

Punta Blanca Beach

A favorite with many surf academies. The reason? Its tranquility and its waves. It's a beach of fine white sand, but with the special quality of being windy. Located between Majanicho and the Tostón Lighthouse, this space can be reached by taking the North Shore Highway. This coastal area with fantastic views is accessible by car or public transport.

Flag Beach

Also perfect for surfing, this beach stands out for its diverse areas, some of which are geared toward beginners. Aside from its sandy bottom, entry to the water is very easy, making it a very safe area. It's located in a tourist area, and therefore has several nearby services, from schools to equipment rental businesses. To reach Flag Beach, take the FV-2 and FV-1 highways toward Corralejo. We recommend parking near the dunes.

Famara Beach

This majestic, six-kilometer-long beach is sheltered by a mountainous cliff, home to the island's highest point, Peñas del Chache. The trade winds in the area make this spot a perfect place for surfing. It can be accessed through the village of Caleta Famara, where you can easily find parking.
Fun and exciting, that's how many describe surfing. A sport that can be practiced in the best possible conditions in both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Do you dare?

3 natural pools you must visit if you travel to Fuerteventura

3 natural pools you must visit if you travel to Fuerteventura

The Canary Islands boast exceptionally beautiful spots. The islands' volcanic landscape, combined with their coastlines sculpted by the sea and wind, creates spaces that tourists associate with paradise. And they're not wrong. That's why at R2 Hotels we want to tell you about three natural pools that are a must-see if you decide to spend your holidays in Fuerteventura.

Aguas Verdes, relaxation and disconnection

Ratjada

Many describe this natural pool on the west coast of Fuerteventura as the perfect balance of peace and tranquility. It's a privilege to float on the water, aware that beyond its rocks lies the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean.

A perfect spot for a relaxing swim in a sublime setting. Crystal-clear water, a pristine sea, and the volcanic landscape typical of the islands. It's easily accessible from the village of Llanos de la Concepción, specifically from Playa del Valle. Even so, we recommend wearing appropriate footwear for safety.

The tranquility of the fishing village of Ajuy

If you're looking for something to do away from the main tourist areas, Ajuy is the perfect place. It's primarily known for its caves. However, this small town on the west side of the island also boasts a beautiful beach and natural pools where escaping stress and forgetting about daily life has never been easier.

These pools are one of the best-kept secrets of this small town, tiny natural pools of crystal-clear water nestled at the foot of the cliff. Access is difficult, but the trek is well worth it. It's important to swim at low tide, as the water can be dangerous at higher tides.

Caleta Fuste, popular and central

In the municipality of Antigua, near Puerto del Rosario, lies the town of Caleta de Fuste. This central point on the island is just a few kilometers from Costa Calma, where several of our hotels are located. Here, tourists can enjoy a variety of activities, from visiting museums like the Majorero Cheese Museum or the Salinas del Carmen salt flats to enjoying beaches such as Playa del Castillo or Playa de la Guirra.

If you're looking for a truly unique experience, you can always visit the natural pool at Castillo Caleta de Fuste, a space formed by nature with water coming directly from the ocean, hence its characteristic crystal-clear green color typical of the Canary Islands. This spot is located between the town of Nuevo Horizonte and the northern part of the Castillo area. It's easily accessible, and we recommend swimming at low tide, as otherwise it can be very dangerous.

If you're looking to relax, disconnect, and forget about your routine, taking a dip in one of these pools and discovering another side of Fuerteventura is a great idea. Don't wait any longer and pack your bags.

3 natural pools in Lanzarote where you should swim

3 natural pools in Lanzarote where you should swim

Lanzarote is one of the most impressive islands in the Canary Archipelago. Unlike others such as La Palma or Tenerife, the island of the "Hundred Volcanoes" stands out for its brown hue and its appearance, a blend of desert and paradise. You'll feel like you're in an oasis thanks to its completely unspoiled, wild beaches where relaxation is effortless. Swimming along the coast will make you feel like you're in a natural pool in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, thanks to the calm and tranquility of the sea, which also creates pools and tide pools where disconnecting from reality has never been easier.

At R2 Hotels, we want to recommend three natural pools that will make your trip to Lanzarote an unforgettable experience:

Punta de Mujeres Natural Pool

Ratjada

In the municipality of Haría lies the small fishing village of Punta de Mujeres. Tranquility, beauty, and peace prevail in this town, whose rocky coastline doesn't prevent its residents from enjoying a refreshing swim.

Descending some of its stairs or jetties, you can enjoy this natural pool where the water comes directly from the sea. A perfect combination of sun, lava, and ocean.

Caletón Blanco

Yes, it's a beach. But at times, it feels like you're in a swimming pool, thanks to the rocky areas that jut out halfway between the shore and the sea. Its name, "Blanco," comes precisely from the color of the sand, which, combined with the crystal-clear water, creates a unique and unforgettable landscape.

Perfect for a tourist getaway where children and adults can enjoy a picture-perfect setting accessed through Órzola, another charming town in the municipality of Haría.

The Puddles

Considered by many to be one of Lanzarote's best-kept secrets, it's also hidden away in one of the island's most secluded corners. Near the tourist area of Playa Blanca, you'll find this haven of relaxation.

A collection of natural pools formed by the erosion of solidified volcanic lava by powerful ocean waves. They vary in depth and size, but all share one thing in common: their crystal-clear waters. The perfect place to recharge.

As these are rocky areas, we recommend that visitors wear sturdy footwear to avoid injury and respect the natural environment by keeping it as clean as possible. Finally, enjoy and be amazed by the paradise that the island of Lanzarote has to offer.

The best coves for families with children in the northeast of Mallorca

If you're planning one of your last summer getaways to Mallorca, don't miss this list of the best coves for families with children that you can find in the northeast of the island.

Cala Ratjada

Ratjada

Just 600 meters from R2 Bahía Cala Ratjada lies Cala Ratjada, Mallorca's second most important fishing port, in the municipality of Capdepera. Its traditional character is still evident with numerous fishing boats. Undoubtedly, a place you won't forget.

Cala Agulla

A cove of spectacular beauty that you can find practically deserted during the summer months. It's located just a 15-minute walk from the center of Cala Ratjada and the R2 Bahía Cala Ratjada hotel. Furthermore, it has been designated a protected area by the Balearic Government due to the abundance of bird species that frequent its crystal-clear waters. It's important to note that the size of the beach can change depending on the weather and currents, but even so, it's a spectacular place to spend a day at the beach.

Cala Millor

Cala Millor

Cala Millor is the longest beach on the east coast of Mallorca, stretching 1.8 km. It boasts white sand, crystal-clear waters, a Blue Flag designation, and all the amenities for a family holiday. You can also enjoy a variety of activities for children:

4 hidden coves in Mallorca that you must visit

4 hidden coves in Mallorca that you must visit

Nobody likes spending their holidays surrounded by tourists, so R2 brings you Mallorca's most hidden coves. Charming spots far from the tourist crowds, accessible only on foot via incredible trails. Settings that promise a truly unique day.

Caló d'en Monjo

Considered one of the most beautiful natural spots on the island, this U-shaped cove serves as an inlet to the island's characteristic pristine, crystal-clear waters. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and is also a designated nudist area. Reaching it isn't easy, as those interested must hike 2 km from Cala Fornells beach in Peguera. It's a perfect spot for adventurous hikers. From the R2 Cala Millor motorway, those interested can reach it by crossing the highway.

Caló des Moro

Located 47 km from the R2 Verónica in Mallorca, this cove holds a special place. Despite being a well-known spot in Mallorca, this small stretch of fine sand and translucent turquoise water is worth a visit for its stunning beauty. Surrounded by towering cliffs and reflecting nature in pine trees and shrubs, many describe the sunsets here as unparalleled. Reaching this tourist gem isn't easy, as it requires a 2 km walk from the free parking area at Cala Llombards. Nevertheless, we highly recommend a visit.

Cala en Basset

Another hidden gem, well worth a visit despite being 120 km from R2 Cala Ratjada Bay. One of the island's most underrated landscapes, ideal for swimming enthusiasts, Cala Basset stands out as a small, inviting cove surrounded by natural sand and crystal-clear water. A place that invites relaxation and escape. This area also lends itself to a short walk from the local watchtower, offering spectacular panoramic views of Dragonera Island. The best way to reach it is by boat. Therefore, we recommend renting one from one of Mallorca's many charter companies. They typically offer boats for up to 6 people, with prices around €215 per hour and no license required.

Cala s'Almunia

Located 48 km from R2 Cala Millor, surrounded by picturesque houses, a stunning coastline, and the crystal-clear water so characteristic of Mallorca, Cala s'Almunia is a small sandy cove enclosed by rocky cliffs. Its shallow waters, which also mean few boats, make it a perfect spot for snorkeling. If you'd like to explore Palma's underwater world, this cove might be the ideal destination. It's accessible by car via a somewhat hidden road. However, once you find it, parking isn't a problem, and the cove is just a short walk away.

Without a doubt, Mallorca has magical spots where you can enjoy an unforgettable vacation. Have you already decided which one you want to visit?

Discover Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes in Lanzarote

Discover Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes in Lanzarote

The magic inside a tunnel after the eruption of the Corona Volcano

César Manrique knew how to transform what was the collapse of a volcanic tube into unique spaces, combining art and nature in perfect harmony.

Jameos del Agua is a volcanic cave located in northern Lanzarote, an idyllic setting home to unique species , such as the blind crab (Munidopsis polymorpha). Due to the conditions of the interior lagoon and its ebb and flow of the tides, these crabs thrive only in this unique location, making it an unparalleled habitat. The organizers always recommend protecting this environment and remind visitors that throwing coins or any other objects into the lagoon is prohibited, as it could disrupt the ecosystem of this species. This should be kept in mind if you decide to visit Jameos del Agua.

The Cave of the Greens, another environment full of legends and unforgettable landscape features

It is said that the Cueva de los Verdes (Green Cave) owes its name to the surname of a family who kept their livestock in the surrounding area. In the past, it served as a refuge for the local population against invasions until the 19th century, when it became a tourist attraction on the island of Lanzarote.

It was the artist Jesús Soto, in collaboration with César Manrique, who transformed the Cueva de los Verdes into the natural sanctuary we know today, thanks to the interplay of light and shadow . As with Jameos del Agua , you can book your guided tour through the Lanzarote Art, Culture and Tourism Centers website.

Without a doubt, Lanzarote hides treasures worth discovering. If you decide to travel to the island, you can book your stay at R2 Bahía Kontiki and make the most of everything Lanzarote has to offer.

Paradise island in La Graciosa

Paradise island in La Graciosa

Have you not yet discovered paradise?

Just half an hour north of Lanzarote lies the island of La Graciosa, the eighth Canary Island, which is part of the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park, where there is no asphalt or road and you can enjoy maximum tranquility.

It currently has 700 inhabitants and 29 kilometers of golden sand, which you can reach by boat from the port of Órzola, just 45 minutes from the R2 Bahía Kontiki hotel in Lanzarote, for approximately €20 round trip. You can also take your car to the port and leave it parked there if needed, although it is recommended to book the trip in advance, especially during peak season.

What can you do on the island of La Graciosa?

Undoubtedly, one of the attractions of this little-known island is its beaches, with crystal-clear waters and practically untouched surroundings. A prime example is Playa de Las Conchas, a 600-meter stretch of coastline offering a spectacular landscape you'll never forget. You can also find other beaches such as:

  • La Francesa Beach
  • La Cocina Beach
  • Amber Beach
  • Laja Beach
  • El Salado Beach

But you can do more than just enjoy the beaches; you can also explore La Graciosa on foot, by bicycle, or rent a 4x4 and make the most of every minute of the day. And if you're more into adventure and activities, La Graciosa is the perfect island for diving, as it's part of the largest marine reserve in Europe, covering 70,700 hectares and boasting the greatest marine biodiversity in the Canary Islands. Hiking is another activity you can enjoy, such as a 4-kilometer route to see the Montaña Amarilla volcano up close.

There is also the possibility of taking a boat tour around the island and discovering magical corners that you couldn't reach on foot.

Are you planning to try the island's cuisine?

On the island of La Graciosa, specifically in Caleta de Sebo, as it is the only area with restaurants, you can enjoy the island's star product, fresh fish accompanied by wrinkled potatoes with mojo sauce and a good Canarian wine.

Where to stay when visiting the island of La Graciosa?

On the beautiful seafront promenade of Puerto del Carmen, in Lanzarote, R2 Bahía Kontiki Beach Apartments**** awaits you, a place with a sea theme, which will make your holidays the best days to enjoy.

Dare to discover Cala Figuera

Dare to discover Cala Figuera

Cala Figuera, one of the most idyllic places in Mallorca

Cala Figuera is a fishing port located on the southeast coast of Mallorca, belonging to the municipality of Santanyí. Today it has approximately 750 inhabitants in a secluded, Y-shaped location between Caló d'En Boira and Caló d'En Busques.

History of Cala Figuera

The first records of Cala Figuera date back to 1306, and the first houses were built in the late 19th century. After the tourism boom of the 1960s and 80s, record visitor numbers declined drastically in the following years, bringing about a structural change in Cala Figuera and making it a less popular holiday destination. Many hotels were demolished, others were emptied, and instead of building new hotels or modern facilities, private homes with luxury finishes were constructed. Even so, this did not prevent it from becoming one of Mallorca's most famous coves .

Discover what you can do in Cala Figuera

Cala Figuera doesn't have its own sandy beach, but it more than makes up for it with its beautiful harbor, where you can join the fishermen on their early morning rounds. The sunrises are spectacular… the sea bathes the sun, creating a stunning backdrop to the rocky bay and the fishermen's cottages, making Cala Figuera a place you'll never forget.

You also have the option of taking a boat tour . These excursions will show you that Cala Figuera isn't the only idyllic spot in the area. On the various routes, you can discover other places like Cala Marmells and Cala S'Alumia, and if you're looking for a beach, whether you're heading to Cala Santanyi, Cala Llombarts, or Cala Mondragó, Cala Figuera's transport service will take you safely to the beach areas for an unforgettable day.

Cala Figuera offers the opportunity to swim or snorkel in its crystal-clear waters. Furthermore, if you're not a fan of water sports, you can also hike in the area and discover the natural beauty surrounding the island.

Amidst all these activities, the restaurants will invite you to sample international, national, and regional culinary delights, from traditional Spanish dishes to the freshest fish you can find. Among the dining options is the church, built in 1938 and converted into a restaurant to offer visitors top-quality food. It's advisable to make a reservation before visiting any of the restaurants, as the locals know how good the food is in these areas. Here are some of the best restaurants in Cala Figuera:

  • Petite Iglesia – How to get there
  • Bon Bar – How to get there
  • Es Port – How to get there
  • The Arcade – How to get there

Where to stay when visiting the island of La Graciosa?

On the beautiful seafront promenade of Puerto del Carmen, in Lanzarote, R2 Bahía Kontiki Beach Apartments**** awaits you, a place with a sea theme, which will make your holidays the best days to enjoy.

The most Instagrammable spots in Mallorca

The most Instagrammable spots in Mallorca

Mallorca is one of the most visited places in Spain. Every year, countless tourists flock to the island to enjoy their holidays. The result? Social media feeds flooded with spectacular photos of its coves, streets, and unique natural beauty. For example, on Instagram alone, there are over 12 million photos tagged with #Mallorca.

If you're thinking of visiting the largest island in the Balearic archipelago, we'll tell you how to fill your feed with the best photos. Today, we're visiting some of the most Instagrammable spots in Mallorca.

Playa de Muro

Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca. It's the largest sandy beach on the island, stretching for nearly six kilometers. Located in the town of Muro, next to Port d'Alcúdia, it's worth getting up early to witness a sunrise like you've never seen before, while you let your camera do its work, capturing the best photos.

Valldemossa

The village of Valldemossa is about a 20-minute drive from Palma de Mallorca, heading towards the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. Many agree that words cannot describe it. Getting lost in its narrow streets filled with plants is not only a delight for the senses but also a photographer's dream.

Cala Sa Calobra

When it comes to coves, Mallorca is a true benchmark. This one in particular is so hidden that to reach it you have to drive along a winding road. Once there, the journey will be forgotten. A little paradise worthy of admiration and photography.

Formentor Lighthouse

The Formentor peninsula boasts some of Mallorca's most photogenic natural landscapes. Once you're here, it will be difficult to find the perfect photo to garner the most "likes" on Instagram or Facebook. We recommend using the Formentor Lighthouse as a backdrop, although creativity is so subjective that everyone will find beauty in their own perspective.

Malgrats Islands

Two islets off the coast of Santa Ponsa Bay form the Malgrats Islands Nature Reserve. You might just be able to capture the best sunset photo of your trip here.
These are just some of Mallorca's most Instagrammable spots, but not the only ones. Many others, such as Sa Foradada, Palma Cathedral, Raixa, Es Pontás, and Biniagual, among many others, make Mallorca a paradise for all those who live and breathe social media and photography.

We're waiting for you!

Ideal beaches for children in Fuerteventura

Ideal beaches for children in Fuerteventura

When planning our family holidays, we always try to find fun, safe options suitable for the youngest members of the family. In the case of Fuerteventura, the beaches are one of the main attractions. Vast stretches of white sand with crystal-clear waters, small coves sheltered from the wind, urban beaches with all kinds of amenities, and wild beaches are spread along more than 300 kilometers of coastline.

Today, in our latest blog post, we're suggesting some beaches scattered across the island that, thanks to their size, location, and calm waters, are ideal for enjoying a worry-free holiday with children. Keep reading!

Costa Calma Beach

The entire Costa Calma, where our R2 Río Calma Spa & Conference is located, is a stunning bay forming a vast beach over two thousand meters long and up to three hundred meters wide. It boasts fine, white sand and calm waters. Its expansive size ensures you'll always find a spot to lay your towel comfortably and with some privacy. The beach also offers a wide range of amenities, including restrooms, showers, foot baths, and umbrella and sun lounger rentals. Of course, for children, there's a playground, a sports area, and lifeguard stations.

Emerald Beach (Costa Calma)

If you're looking for a quieter beach, this is the perfect choice. Located between Costa Calma and Sotavento beaches, further south on the island, it's sheltered from the wind by a cliff. If the tide is low, it's a spectacular sight for all ages. It's ideal for families with children, offering numerous amenities such as restrooms, showers, lifeguard service, and even a beach bar. Young children often have a blast searching for marine fossils and, with a bit of luck, spotting whales and dolphins from a distance. To reach the beach, simply follow the easy dirt track to the parking area.

Lakes Beach (El Cotillo)

Los Lagos in El Cotillo are a series of natural beaches located near the town of El Cotillo, right on the road leading to the famous lighthouse. These sheltered beaches are ideal for families, with fine, white sand. They are completely safe, as the reef prevents the formation of waves. The calm waters, white sand, and abundant marine life make this a perfect spot for snorkeling and exploring the seabed. They tend to be crowded during the summer months, and it's important to know that they don't offer the same level of amenities as the other beaches we've mentioned, although there are bars and restaurants nearby.

Caleta de Fuste Beach

This is a natural bay completely sheltered from the wind and waves, making it a comfortable and especially safe option for families with children who want to enjoy the beach in complete peace and quiet. It offers all kinds of amenities, such as sunbed and parasol rentals, showers, a variety of restaurants, and plenty of options for renting equipment and practicing different water sports. If, in addition to enjoying the sun and the beach, you'd like to do some sightseeing, one of the most important landmarks in Caleta de Fuste is located nearby: the Tower of San Buenaventura, also known as Fuste Castle. This small, circular fortification once served to protect the coast.

Morro Jable Beach

It's located in the fishing village of Morro Jable, in southern Fuerteventura. This enormous beach boasts white sand and calm waters that range from turquoise to emerald. It offers numerous amenities, including lifeguards, sunbed and parasol rentals, beach bars, and areas for water sports such as surfing and kayaking. It also borders a promenade lined with shops, leisure centers, and restaurants. For those interested in exploring, the Saladar de Jandía is nearby, a Site of Scientific Interest that preserves a type of vegetation, very rare in the Canary Islands, that is resistant to saltwater.

This concludes our tour of some beaches that are especially suitable for families with children, although these are not the only options. We hope this information helps you plan those long days at the beach during your family vacation. As a final tip, to ensure you have the best possible experience on sunny days at the beach, don't forget to bring sunscreen, a beach umbrella, and some water.

Plans to enjoy Mallorca this spring

Plans to enjoy Mallorca this spring

There are many ways to explore the island from a different perspective, starting from any of our hotels. From hiking and cycling excursions, through the mountains or along the coast, to discovering the villages and historical heritage of different areas of the island, or exploring its coastline by boat.
Ready to discover the most spring-like side of Mallorca? Keep reading because we've got 6 plans for you to explore and enjoy Mallorca this spring.

Today, in our latest blog post, we're suggesting some beaches scattered across the island that, thanks to their size, location, and calm waters, are ideal for enjoying a worry-free holiday with children. Keep reading!

A route through the most charming villages

One of Mallorca's main attractions is its charming corners. Many of these can be discovered along a route through the island's most enchanting villages. Throughout the largest of the Balearic Islands, it's easy to stumble upon them almost by chance. A stroll through the streets of Sóller, a sunset in Deià, getting lost in the surroundings of Valldemossa, or simply enjoying the beauty of Banyalbufar are just a few of the most highly recommended.

Explore it by bicycle

This is one of Europe's top destinations for cycling tourists. Countless routes, designed by and for cycling enthusiasts, wind through some of the island's most stunning landscapes. You don't need to be an expert to hop on two wheels and explore the wonders along the way. We promise you'll be blown away by the scenery and, most importantly, gain a completely new perspective on Mallorca.

Do you like hiking?

Mallorca is a true paradise for hiking and walking enthusiasts. One of its greatest attractions is the ease with which you can combine mountain trails with coastal routes. Getting away from urban areas and immersing yourself in nature is a key goal for trekkers and hikers, and here it's possible, as distances are generally short. Some routes are highly recommended due to their popularity, such as the Trapa trail, which ends with breathtaking views of Dragonera Island. There are also lesser-known routes where you can lose yourself in the tranquility of the forest.

Dare to try a wine route

Some of the world's most highly regarded wines come from the Mediterranean region. A wine tour or a visit to a vineyard is an ideal way to experience something different. It's fascinating and enriching to visit the vineyard, learn about the production process, explore the winery and discover the wine, participate in a tasting, and finally, take a bottle of wine home. This activity is highly valued by wine lovers, as it allows them to sample wines before buying them and also explore different regions of the island.

For sea lovers

If you're passionate about the sea and want to enjoy it during even the shortest holidays, Mallorca is the perfect destination for you. The ideal spot is Pollensa Bay, home to one of the widest ranges of water sports on the island. Options include kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking, and jet skiing, among others. But if you truly crave a peaceful cruise, soaking up the atmosphere and scenery, and feeling the sea breeze, the best option is to book a trip on a "llaüt," the traditional Balearic Islands boat. A truly relaxing experience.

Easter Trips

If you've decided to travel to Mallorca and it coincides with Holy Week, you're in luck, as it's the best time to enjoy the suggested activities. If, in addition to these activities, you'd also like to experience these days in a more traditional way, you can't miss some of the most popular events organized for this occasion. In Palma, the procession of the Holy Christ of the Blood and the Stations of the Cross take place, considered the most important events of Holy Week in the capital. The atmosphere is moving and solemn, thanks to the drums and music that accompany the statues, brotherhoods, and the faithful throughout the procession.
These are our suggestions for different plans for Mallorca in spring.

Lanzarote through the most unique architecture

Lanzarote through the most unique architecture

Lanzarote, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993, possesses a unique essence that transcends the typical sun and beach tourist destination. Here, topography, art, and culture intertwine to create a truly distinctive and recognizable aesthetic . Throughout the island, you'll find numerous house museums, monuments, and art centers that will delight your senses.

In this post we take a cultural tour of Lanzarote through some places where nature and man have created a special combination, and where the characteristic white of the typical Lanzarote buildings, the green of the endemic nature and the volcanic black, mix in a combination worthy of admiration.

César Manrique House-Museum

César Manrique was one of the most important modern artists in the Canary Islands and, without a doubt, the most influential on the island of Lanzarote. His influence is evident in the numerous buildings and works he created on the island. One example is the house where he lived until the end of his life. The César Manrique House-Museum is an architectural masterpiece that speaks for itself and clearly demonstrates the artist's character and his penchant for integrating his creations with nature. Located in the north of the island, in the heart of the Haría palm grove, it is well worth a visit during your vacation.

Lagomar Museum (Omar Sharif House)

Another architectural masterpiece in perfect harmony with nature is the Lagomar Museum, also known as the Omar Sharif House. Undoubtedly, the hand of César Manrique is evident; on this occasion, he collaborated with Jesús Soto on the design of this magnificent building. It is currently a private space housing a restaurant, a café, and an art gallery. Nestled within the remains of an old quarry in the village of Nazaret, in the heart of the island, its surroundings are absolutely breathtaking.

Peasant's House-Museum

This space, comprising the House-Museum and a sculpture dedicated to fertility, recognizes the tireless work of Lanzarote's farmers, who had to contend with the most challenging conditions to cultivate such a demanding environment. A work by César Manrique, a visit offers a journey through the island's traditional way of life, showcasing agriculture, crafts, and gastronomy. It is one of the Canarian artist's most avant-garde works and is located in San Bartolomé, in the geographical center of Lanzarote.

Jameos del Agua

This is the first art and culture center created and designed by the multifaceted César Manrique, and it is unequivocal proof that the harmony between nature and art would be one of the cornerstones of his architectural work. Jameos del Agua is located inside a volcanic tunnel formed by various eruptions and is a very important natural area from an ecological perspective. Inside, visitors can admire a natural lake, an auditorium, and a café-bar in an absolutely magical setting. A must-see, it is located in the municipality of Haría, in the north of the island.

Haría viewpoint

Also known as the Malpaso Viewpoint, this architectural masterpiece is another must-see during your trip to Lanzarote. Designed by the Lanzarote architect Miguel Ángel Fontes, it follows the design established in 1966 when the original project began, culminating in what we know today. In the words of its creator, the building aims to "make architecture seek out the landscape, integrating and merging with it." The viewpoint is a marvel in every sense, offering panoramic views of the Haría palm grove and the Temisa Valley.

This tour of Lanzarote's most unique architecture is an invitation to enjoy your trip in a different way, closer to nature, closer to art, and closer to culture. We hope we've helped you decide on a different kind of getaway and get closer to the essence of the island through renowned artists, without sacrificing sun and sand tourism.
These are our suggestions for different plans for Mallorca in spring.

Reasons why traveling makes us happy

Reasons why traveling makes us happy

There are many reasons why traveling offers numerous benefits to personal well-being. Whether it's a business trip, a vacation getaway with family or a partner, or a long trip alone or with friends, traveling (planning for it, enjoying it, and remembering it) can make us happier people, allowing us to escape the daily grind and discover new cultures, places, people, and even ourselves. From the moment we plan our trip until we return home, a whole world of new experiences will remain in our memories like a gift.

In this post, we bring you some benefits that, taken together, make traveling much happier.

The source of happiness: memories and experiences

There's no doubt that, to stay active, our minds need activity, new challenges, changes, and discoveries that excite us. When we travel, we experience a series of positive, and sometimes inexplicable, emotions that we're unable to achieve in our daily lives because we're immersed in the daily grind. Therefore, generating these new emotions becomes important even after the trip is over, since when we recall a passage from our trip, we'll be able to recall that emotion again.

Get out of the routine

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by our own routine. Worries, work, the very pace of the city we live in—these factors make it difficult to completely escape. At this point, we need that "break," that time for ourselves, that space of time that allows us to reconnect with ourselves. And by traveling, we achieve this. We're able to leave aside the daily grind, the stress, and the rush to give our brain a break, slow down, and return our body and mind to a more pleasant place where we feel much better.

Sharing is living

Returning home, reuniting with friends or family, and sharing the details of our trip is another of the best experiences. And that's what we do when the adventure is over: we share our best photos, tell anecdotes, and reminisce about the funniest moments. We do all of this with special joy, because we come back with our batteries recharged, we feel good, we share it all, because sharing is reliving it.

The benefits start before you leave

The moment we think about it, we're already traveling, in a way. The most Instagrammable spots in Fuerteventura

The most Instagrammable spots in Fuerteventura

Capturing the most beautiful spots while traveling has become a way of life. We can no longer visit a destination without our mobile phone or camera, much less without sharing it. Under hashtags like 'wanderlust' , 'lifestyle' , and 'travelgram' , the passion for showcasing remote places has massively taken over the unique platform of Instagram.

You've probably already decided to travel to Fuerteventura for a sunny, tropical vacation. You've likely also used social media to learn more about your chosen hotel or to get a first impression of the island's most incredible spots . We don't just look for information to plan your trip; we select those places where you can truly enjoy your time off and that are also worthy of being captured in photos.

At R2Hotels, we've decided to make it easy for you, and if you haven't yet discovered the amazing island of Fuerteventura, you might be interested in knowing where some of these places are.

Barranco and Arco de Las Peñitas

The Barranco de las Peñitas and Arco de las Peñitas (Ravine and Arch of Las Peñitas) is one of the most beautiful and photogenic landscapes in Fuerteventura. It forms part of the Betancuria Rural Park Protected Natural Area and is located between two must-see towns on our trip: Betancuria and Ajuy. It's a stunning and unusual setting on an island known for its beautiful beaches. If you intend to reach the Arco de Las Peñitas, where you can take one of the most unique photos, you'll need to take a walk of approximately half an hour, so we recommend wearing appropriate footwear. Formed by wind erosion , it is undoubtedly one of those wonderful treasures that nature offers us.

Kilometer-long roads

Fuerteventura's long, winding roads offer ideal spots for those seeking unique landscapes. Finding them is easy. If you've planned a route to explore the island's main tourist attractions, you won't have to search for them; they'll appear along the way. Fuerteventura's incredible light will make things simple. Unleash your creativity to find the perfect perspectives and compositions for the best shot.

El Hierro beach or Popcorn beach

In La Oliva, nestled between the fishing village of Majanicho and the port of Corralejo, lies El Hierro Beach, one of the most visited and photographed spots on Fuerteventura. Better known as Popcorn Beach, it has gained immense popularity after going viral on social media. This beach boasts different types of sand: fine sand and another that, as the image shows, looks like popcorn! (Or, as we say in the Canary Islands, "roscas" or "cotufas"). It's nothing more than rhodoliths (calcareous algae). This unique feature has made this beach in the north of the island one of the most visited and most photographed. If you come here, please be responsible with the environment. Disrespectful practices have endangered this place in recent times. .

Cofete Viewpoint and Beach

Cofete is one of the wildest, least developed, and largest beaches in the Canary Islands. Located in Jandía, in the south of Fuerteventura, it's a visual treat for landscape photography enthusiasts. Getting there isn't easy; you reach it via an 8.5-kilometer dirt track with some challenging but entirely manageable sections. A must-see stop before the end of the journey is the Cofete Viewpoint, where you can confidently take photos with your phone or camera. Once past this point, all that's left is to park and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, sharing this natural wonder on your social media.

Lobos Island

The islet of Lobos boasts one of the most Instagrammed spots in the Canary Islands. Who hasn't seen the famous photo of Puertito de Lobos on their social media feeds? It's not on the island of Fuerteventura, and to get there you'll need to take a boat from Corralejo; the journey takes about 20 minutes. This is one of the must-have photos of your trip. Take out your camera, adjust the light, and find the best angle facing the wooden walkway. The crystal-clear waters, the contrast of the volcanic landscape, and the bluest sky you've ever seen will be the perfect ingredients for a photo that's sure to be a hit on social media.

We hope these points on the map help you explore this island, which is well worth discovering. And between excursions, you can also take the most Instagrammable photos in the surroundings, pool, or jacuzzi of any of our hotels in Fuerteventura.
We're waiting for you!

3 Reasons to visit Mallorca

3 Reasons to visit Mallorca

If we had to describe it in a single word, we would undoubtedly choose "diversity." Because Mallorca, the largest island in Spain, has it all: countless beaches and coves, incredible nature, unique gastronomy, history and culture, and a wide range of leisure activities to suit all tastes.

If you're thinking about traveling to the largest of the Balearic Islands with family, friends, or just a solo getaway, but you haven't decided yet, keep reading, because we'll give you the reasons you need to make up your mind and enjoy your next holiday in the Mediterranean.

Paradise coves and beaches

Mallorca is the perfect destination for lovers of idyllic coves and beaches with white sand, crystal-clear waters, and a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. This, combined with the mild Mediterranean climate, makes for the perfect combination for a truly relaxing holiday in harmony with nature. Among the coves you absolutely mustn't miss is Cala Varques , nestled in an incredible natural setting surrounded by pine forests. One of the most important beaches is Cala Millor , on the east side of the island, stretching for almost two kilometers, with a promenade ideal for long walks at the end of the day. Any of our three hotels in this area (R2 Bahía Cala Ratjada, R2 Verónica Beach, and R2 Cala Millor Beach) will be the perfect finishing touch to a perfect holiday. Don't forget to visit Cala Deià , hidden among forests and cliffs, and Cala Formentor, spectacular for the color of its water.

Incredible nature

Besides its coves, Mallorca is known for its diverse mountain landscapes and cliffs. One of these must-see spots is the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Be mesmerized by the breathtaking views. Another essential stop on your visit to Mallorca is the Mondragó Natural Park, located in the municipality of Santanyí. This blend of pine forests and cliffs is one of the island's most popular destinations. Another absolute must is a visit to some of Mallorca's most beautiful villages, such as Valldemossa, Deià, Sóller, and Fornalutx. Finally, don't miss the Cave of Drach, one of the island's greatest attractions.

Palma de Mallorca: culture and gastronomy

Mallorca is also a great city destination. In the capital, daily life blends seamlessly with the local culture and cuisine, offering visitors a truly complete holiday. The historic center is home to most of the must-see monuments, which can be explored during a pleasant stroll. The Plaza Mayor, the Church of Sant Miquel, the Cathedral of Palma (also known as the Cathedral of Light), and, of course, the Cathedral of the Sea (Cathedral del Mar), are just some of the monuments you can admire during the day while enjoying Mallorcan gastronomy. One essential specialty is sobrasada, a delicious sausage famous internationally, prepared here like nowhere else. You also can't miss Tumbet, a traditional dish made with seasonal vegetables from Mallorca's gardens, a true delight for the senses whether enjoyed as a side dish or on its own. If you're someone who saves room for dessert, don't forget to try ensaimadas and cocas, the star of Mallorcan pastry.

These are just some of the most important reasons that will make you decide to travel here this spring and summer. We've highlighted the most important ones, but they're not the only ones. We hope we've helped you make your decision, and we'll see you in Mallorca!

Family Holidays: Lanzarote with Kids

Family Holidays: Lanzarote with Kids

If you're planning a relaxing and adventurous family getaway, Lanzarote is the perfect destination. The contrast between the volcanic landscapes and idyllic beaches will captivate both adults and children. Traveling from one place to another is easy, allowing you to enjoy your vacation without missing a single detail. Its mild climate year-round and the tranquility found throughout the island make it an ideal destination for families. We suggest some must-see attractions where the whole family will have a fantastic time.

Timanfaya National Park

In this National Park, one of the most visited in Spain, we can admire the incredible volcanic landscape created by the numerous eruptions the area has experienced. We'll arrive by car and tour the park on a bus organized by the park itself. Children, and adults alike, will have a fantastic time with the steam spectacles that rise from the depths when water is poured in, confirming the still-present temperature inside the earth. Completing the visit with a camel ride will make the little ones very happy.

Theme Parks

The theme parks in Lanzarote are incredibly diverse. A water park, a Wild West-themed park, a cactus garden, and one of the largest aquariums in the Canary Islands are just some of the ideal options for children. All of them are geared towards family visits, guaranteeing fun and excitement. Choose the one that best suits your needs, or why not visit them all?

Jameos del Agua

This incredible geological wonder was transformed by the artist César Manrique. Created from the collapse of a volcanic tube, it has been transformed by marine seepage into an inland lake. Children will have a wonderful time admiring the reflections in this unique place and, above all, searching for the jameitos, the blind, albino crab species that lives within it.

Caletón Blanco

This bathing area is perfect and very safe for all members of the family. Thanks to lava flows from past eruptions, a natural barrier has formed around it, protecting it from the waves and making this beach a very calm place to enjoy swimming. It will be fun to explore the rocks and snorkel in its crystal-clear waters to discover the marine life so typical of this area. The white sand contrasts with the volcanic landscape, forming a natural pool that will delight everyone.

Excursion to La Graciosa

A ferry trip to La Graciosa will be an unforgettable adventure for children during the holidays. You can buy tickets at the port of Órzola, from where numerous trips depart daily. Once there, all that's left is to enjoy yourself. It's a peaceful and welcoming place where children can play in the unpaved streets or enjoy the sea on the shore of Caleta de Sebo beach. At lunchtime, you can eat at one of the terraces and savor freshly caught fish. The family can also explore the island on a pleasant bike ride and enjoy a swim at the idyllic beaches scattered throughout the rest of the island.

An interesting destination for traveling with children, isn't it? We hope we've helped you decide to travel to Lanzarote as a family. We look forward to seeing you!

Cala Tuent (Mallorca)

Cala Tuent (Mallorca)

If you're planning a trip to Mallorca and are already making a list of the beaches to visit, or if on the contrary you're still not quite sure if this will be your next getaway destination, this wonderful place might make you pack your bags and fly away (How else? :P).

We present to you Cala Tuent, one of the best coves in Mallorca located in the municipality of Escorca in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, a natural area declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Among its features, we can highlight its incredible landscape surrounded by enormous mountains and lush forests, emerald waters, and the tranquility it offers due to its relative obscurity and lack of crowds. Therefore, yes, it is the ideal place for a refreshing swim and to enjoy a day at the beach, whether with family, as a couple, or with a group of friends—perfect for any time and any type of visitor.

What more could you ask for? If we had to gather all the characteristics for a beach to be perfect for enjoying a quiet day with a beautiful landscape and crystal clear waters, without a doubt this cove would take the prize, don't you think?

As for how to get to Cala Tuent, from any of our R2 Hotels in Mallorca there is a distance of about 94km, which means approximately 1 hour and 59 minutes by car, in which you can enjoy some beautiful landscapes, and if you wish, you can make other stops at some places along the way that may be of interest to you, making the most of the trip to this paradisiacal place.

It's also worth noting that the closest parking to the cove is paid, although the most expensive parking you'll likely pay is €5 for the whole day—not bad at all for enjoying this wonderful cove. It's a truly unique experience!

So don't miss out! Treat yourself and take advantage of Black Friday to book your stay with us for next year. We'll be waiting for you!

Discover Majorero cheese

Discover Majorero cheese

The idyllic beaches undoubtedly characterize the island of Fuerteventura, but it is true that this place has much more to offer, such as its culture, its gastronomy, and its unique Majorero Cheese.

The island's climate makes it the perfect place for raising the Majorera goat, a native breed that produces Majorero Cheese. The superior quality of its milk, which is dense and aromatic, contributes to the unique flavor of this creamy and smooth cheese, internationally recognized and awarded at the World Championship Cheese.

Regarding the artisanal production of cheese, technologies are used to assist in milk extraction and filtering, which can be done manually or mechanically. The curd is then curdled, and depending on whether a softer or more aged cheese is desired, cuts are made in the curd. Next, it is placed in molds and salted. Depending on the desired aging, the cheese is left in a room for a period of time. Finally, depending on the region and the type of cheese, it is coated with paprika, olive oil, gofio (toasted cornmeal), etc.

Majorero cheese is produced in six municipalities of Fuerteventura: Antigua, Betancuria, La Oliva, Puerto del Rosario, Pájara, and Tuineje. Several registered producers operate in different areas of the island where this cheese can be purchased, including: Queso de Tetir (Tetir), Quesos Cañada de Agando (Gran Tarajal), Quesos El Convento (Betancuria), Quesos El Taro (Antigua), and Quesos Rincón de las Hermosas (Pájara).

If you want to learn the secrets of its production, as well as taste this delicacy, a visit to the Majorero Cheese Museum is a must. On this visit, you can explore the cheese museum, the mills, and the garden, immersing yourself in the island's history.

Ideal when the weather and tides are calm. Diving here is like discovering an underwater world full of caves and volcanic formations. As for marine life, the most common sightings are angel sharks and rays.

To reach this island, you'll need to travel north from Lanzarote to the port of Órzola (a 45-minute drive from R2 Bahía Kontiki), where you'll find several companies offering ferry crossings to La Graciosa in about 30 minutes. We recommend booking your ferry well in advance.

Depending on the route and the visits you plan to make, you can explore the island on foot, by bike, or by 4x4 taxi.

This island boasts unique landscapes and places: Caleta de Sebo, Playa de la Cocina, Montaña Amarilla, Agujas Grandes (the island's highest volcanoes), Playa Baja del Ganado, the spectacular Playa de las Conchas, Playa del Ámbar, and the village of Pedro Barba.

In addition, it offers several activities to do, such as guided excursions, catamaran routes or diving.

With all this, we hope that on your next holiday to Lanzarote you will make room in your schedule and take a trip to this jewel of the Canary Islands to discover and enjoy it.

Spectacular viewpoints to enjoy the views of Lanzarote

Spectacular viewpoints to enjoy the views of Lanzarote

Despite the island's low elevation, its volcanic nature makes Lanzarote an island with exceptional views.

We recommend some viewpoints if you want to be amazed by the views of this island, so worthy of admiration from its heights.

The Boiling Pots

For adrenaline junkies, we recommend going when the tide is high. The waves crashing against the lava caves create a spectacular display of water clouds; you'll hear the sea roar, see the waves crash against the rocks, and feel the tremors of this natural spectacle.

Guinate viewpoint

Located in northern Lanzarote, at the top of the Famara mountain range, we find this spectacular and little-known viewpoint. From here, we can enjoy incredible views of the Chinijo Archipelago.

Mirador de la Haria

It's located right on the LZ10 road, which runs from Haría to Los Valles. From there, you can enjoy views of villages, admire the Temisa valley, and even see palm trees and native vegetation.

All these viewpoints are between 30 and 45 minutes away by car from our R2 Bahía Kontiki apartments. We encourage you to grab your car and camera and spend a unique day enjoying the spectacular landscapes that Lanzarote has to offer.
